Gladys Green has run an art gallery in New York City for many years, but now the building owner wants to replace it with a trendy coffee shop. As they try to help their Gladys hold on to her independence, her family becomes worried about her increasingly erratic behavior. Inspired by Lonergan’s own grandmother’s battle with Alzheimer’s, THE WAVERLY GALLERY is an ode to the humor and strength of a family in crisis.

“A stirring and soulful comic drama…WAVERLY is often deeply funny. It is both painful and hilarious.”  – The New York Times

Featuring Lucas Cardwell, Pamela Kathleen Hill, Scott Kurland, Nathaniel Malone, and Chelsey Patriss.

SWEAT by Lynn Nottage: A Staged Reading
June 2026 in Lancaster and Ashby
Directed by Samantha deManbey

In Reading, Pennsylvania, a group of friends have spent their lives sharing drinks, secrets, and laughs together while working on the factory floor. But when layoffs and picket lines start to chip away at their trust, they find themselves pitted against each other in a struggle to hold on to what used to bring them together. City on a Hill Arts is excited to present this Pulitzer Prize-winning play as a staged reading.

“Passionate and necessary…a masterful depiction of the forces that divide and conquer us.” – Time Out New York

PRODIGAL SON by John Patrick Shanley
November 2026 in Leominster
Directed by Brenda Lillie
17-year-old Jim Quinn from the Bronx suddenly finds himself at a private school in New Hampshire. He’s violent, gifted, and on fire with a ferocious loneliness. His teachers and roommate find their own lives altered in profound ways as they wrestle with a passionate, explosive young man on the edge of salvation or destruction.

“PRODIGAL SON is a heart-sore portrait of adolescent turmoil that bears the stamp of hard-earned truth on every scene…the best thing that Mr. Shanley has given us since DOUBT.” – The Wall Street Journal
